In March 2014, Apple first introduced the 8GB iPhone 5c in UK and France at a price of 429 pounds. Now Apple has launched the 8GB variant of iPhone 5c in India at a price of Rs.37,500.
Apple is offering an introductory cash discount of Rs.4,000 which brings the price of 8GB iPhone to Rs.33,500, you also get a case worth Rs.2,300 for free. Both these offers are for a limited time, however the duration of offer is not disclosed.
Apple iPhone 5C features 4-inch Retina display that is seen in iPhone 5 and has almost identical internals, including Apple’s A6 chipset, an 8MP rear camera with flash and a 1.2MP front-facing camera. On the outside, it sports a polycarbonate shell with five colour options and a glossy finish. Find full specifications of iPhone 5c here.
It is not the first time that Apple is offering a low-storage version of its smartphone at reduced price. Previously, it had introduced the 8GB variants of iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S in India, but has recently discontinued the 8GB iPhone 4.
The iPhone lineup in India now looks like this : iPhone 4s 8GB/16GB, iPhone 5c 8GB/16GB/32GB, iPhone 5s 16GB/32GB/64GB.
iPhone 5c has been available at various online retailers for as low as Rs.34,500, but still it has not been very popular in India. If the 8GB iPhone 5c would have been priced under Rs.30,000, we think it would have driven sales for Apple.
